How to Run a Product Based Class

Product based classes are a great way of getting orders, especially from people who are not already addicted to purchasing stampin' up product.

Here's how it works.

Pick what kind of class you would like to offer (consider what you think may meet the needs of the intended guests)  e.g. a group of mommies may all need to make thank you cards for kids teachers.  Breast cancer survivors may want to do a breast cancer fundraiser etc.

Decide on the product that works best for that class.

Let's take one of Stampin' Ups kits as an example because with the beautiful precut pieces, it makes class prep a snap.

Here is the Perfectly Wrapped Project Kit. item 142139

Everyone will make 16 Packaging solutions.
You will preorder one kit per class attendee about 2 weeks ahead of the class.
Class attendees must pay prior to your placing the order.

(note: for this particular class you will provide the ink and stamp set)

Here's how you price a product based class
Cost of the product or kit plus shipping plus tax.
Take that total and add on any extra cost you have (e.g. if you are providing card stock, candy etc)
Tack on $5-10

What to do with the extra $5?  You can use it to offer a shopping coupon on the night of the class and tell class registrants that if they place an order THAT EVENING they can use the coupon to get $5 discount.

On that night if they choose to shop, great.  If they don't, it's cash profit for you.

So, for the above kit, I would price the class as $46 to make 16 cute packages.
If you want a more economically priced class, you could split the kit in half (everyone makes 8 cute packages) but still offer everyone a shopping coupon.
In that case, the class would be $26 per person.

Hope this helps you to try running your own product based class.
