Hi! If you are interested in meeting customers for your stampin’ business so you
are not your only customer, or so you can earn a little extra spending $$ or meet new friends, read on! J
I just wanted to share some resources that I’ve been using. Feel free to
copy, adapt, and use as you see fit. Set aside some time to read this post slowly as it contains a lot of information!
I feel strongly that sale-a-bration is a time that can be
powerful if we are putting forth effort to meet new customers.
Meeting new customers:
Send a letter to people in order
to try to get bookings. I stamped a wheel design on the top and bottom to
dress it up and snail mailed it with my newsletter and some handmade
cards. I just mailed it last week and plan to call and follow up with
each one I mailed later this week.
Just like everyone, the challenge is always about how to
meet new people. I am trying to commit to doing events once a month that
will put me and stamping in front of new people outside of the traditional
workshop. These events are about making contacts which will put the onus
on me to follow up and help move them from contacts to customers. Anyhow,
just wanted to share a couple of ideas. This week I am volunteering at my
son’s classroom providing the valentine crafts. I’ve invited a fellow mom
to come and help volunteer with me. Next month I have a table at a mom to
mom type event. I found this event on a facebook group. Even though
it’s not Christmas, there are still opportunities to get a table at a community
event. Look in your local paper, craigslist, facebook, google…
I’ve heard of people who have contacted their local library
and community centres and are running card making classes.
If you are at a dead end with your current friends/family
then you will need to try these other ideas to meet new people. They do
work! For example, A lady I met at a vendor fair in October has already
come to 3 classes, hosted her own private class and is joining my club starting
in March. Her friend just spoke to me last night and is signing up!
Product Based Class Ideas:
My mind has been spinning with product based class ideas to
try. Here’s what I’m trying. I’ll let you know how it goes.
I’d love it if you give some product based classes/workshops a try and let me
know what you learn. I’m always looking to learn from others experiences.
Happy Watercolor 10 card and box class: The base
option for this class would include half a pack of the watercolor notecards and
gold bakers twine. The stepped up option includes the clear mount happy
watercolor stamp set. I’ve noticed that most people are choosing the
option that includes the stamp set. Woot!
Envelope punch board class: I’ve designed 4 projects
using the envelope punch board and each person would get their own punch
board. $35. So far I’ve only offered this as a private class
option. (I want hostesses). Nobody has booked one yet. I had
one lady book one but we are doing 4 projects for $20 or free with an order
(min. $25). I’m making the 4 projects but nobody goes home with the punch
board.
Scallop topper tag punch: Same as above but the base cost
would be $40 since the punch is so expensive.
20 card stamp a stack with the new Hip Hip Hooray kit:
Marketing:
Personal contact is the best way to ask people to host or
attend a class. When I physically see people I ask them and then I follow
up. I also use texting.
Snail mail invitation are also great. I have had good
success with snail mail invitations but I also follow up with a phone call to
ask if they got my snail mail invite
Email/ecard multiple times as the RSVP dates get
closer. Have a link in the email to the blog post that gives all the
details for the class.
After I send an ecard, I can view who has opened the
ecard. It then gives me an idea who I can call to follow up.
Here is a video training that focuses on increasing
attendance at our private classes and workshops.
Okay! That’s it for now. Go forth and make this
sale-a-bration your best ever! (and of course feel free to contact me to ask
questions anytime!)
Love
Gen
